Can Undisputed / Fox Sports overcome the loss of Shannon Sharpe? ESPN’s talking head Stephen A Smith weighed in on the manner and didn’t mince words. Could this be the beginning of the end for Skip Bayless? Stephen A considers Sharpe to be a huge loss for the show and FS1 brand.
“When news was announced that Shannon Sharpe had been bought out of FS1 and he would be leaving at the conclusion of the NBA Finals, there were two things that came to my mind,” Smith said.
“That’s a big loss for the show ‘Undisputed’ because Shannon matters, and that I don’t know what his plans are, I don’t know what he’s trying to pursue, I don’t know what he’s after, but if Shannon Sharpe needs me, then I’m happy to be here for him. And if that includes him wanting to come on ‘First Take,’ the bosses know that is something I would support.”
It also sounds like Stephen A may even become proactive in recruiting Sharpe to ESPN. Stephen A claims Sharpe would be welcomed at his network with open arms.
“I’m telling you right here: If Shannon Sharpe wanted to join that roster, there’s no resistance from Stephen A. I’ve got love for Shannon Sharpe,” Smith said.
It seems a lot of this stems from the Damar Hamlin situation. Nobody can blame Shannon for being sick and tired of Skip’s antics. It’s going to be fascinating to see what happens with Undisputed and where Sharpe decides to take his talents next.
