Someone Give Victor Cruz A Drug Test Now

Someone needs to give Victor Cruz a drug test… NOW! Cruz had such a horrendous take that he either is on drugs or doesn’t watch the games. (Melissa Rawlins/ESPN Images)

2020 NFL Free Agency is right around the corner. It’s going to be fascinating with the number of high profile names that will be on the market. NFL Live on ESPN recently did a segment of players that might get a pretty nice pay day. Someone give Victor Cruz a drug test ASAP. He’s either out of his mind or just didn’t actually watch a single second of the NFL this past year.

What did Victor Cruz just say? That didn’t just come out of his mouth, right? Melvin Gordon is going to get paid because Le’Veon Bell had a big impact on the Jets this year? I’d love to know what drugs Cruz is on. This is serious. There’s not a human alive that could have watched Le’Veon Bell last year and thought he either played well or helped running backs get more money in the future. Impossible to have that thought.

That would be like saying Player X deserves a big contract in free agency because Chris Davis has been productive with the Orioles. Le’Veon Bell is really the example you want to go with Victor?

There is no way to quantify this is any other way. Le’Veon Bell was one of the worst running backs in the sport last year. Not debatable. Bell averaged 3.2 yards per carry on 245 attempts. The only player that had a worse YPC mark was Peyton Barber at 3.1. The third worst mark was a 4-way tie with a 3.6 YPC mark. Still significantly higher than 3.2. Basically have your pick of the litter. Out of all of the running backs in the NFL, Peyton Barber or Le’Veon Bell was the worst running back in the league. Not starting running back. Just worst running back in the entire sport.

Le’Veon Bell signed a $52 million contract over 4 years last offseason and provided horrendous production. The worst part is nobody with an ounce of intelligence thought the Jets were doing something smart by signing Bell to that contract. The idea that Bell’s deal will help Melvin Gordon in free agency might go down as the single most laughable thing said on National Television ever. Someone get Victor Cruz tested now!
