Shinsuke Nakamura shocked the wrestling world by announcing he will be competing in another wrestling company next year. what makes this shocking is the fact that Nakamura is signed with WWE. WWE is notorious for never working with another professional wrestling company. Any company they have collaborated with they have owned. So WWE allowing Nakamura to do this is a huge deal. More recently, fans have seen WWE allow more leeway with their wrestlers. They let AJ Styles send a video message to Impact Wrestling earlier this year. Also, we have seen them reference other wrestling companies since Triple H took over. So, where will Shinsuke Nakamura wrestle?
Shinsuke Nakamura is booked in a match against Great Muta in the wrestling company, NOAH. NOAH is a well-known professional wrestling company in Japan. They have been around for over twenty years and have had some seriously talented wrestlers compete in their company. Great Muta is officially going on his retirement tour. Great Muta has been wrestling for nearly forty years and has faced some incredible talent. Muta has held countless titles throughout his career including winning gold in NWA, NJPW, and WCW. Great Muta has beaten Shinsuke Nakamura twice in his career to win the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. These two will meet on January 1st, 2023 at NOAH The New Year.
This is a very big deal because WWE never does this sort of thing. If you are signed to WWE, you only compete in WWE. So the WWE allowing him to do this just shows how highly they think of Nakamura. I actually can’t think of another time WWE has let one of their wrestlers do this. Furthermore, this is a major sign of the regime change taking place in WWE. Also, this shows that maybe, just maybe, WWE will allow more wrestlers to compete in other companies. And this can lead to a collaborative pay-per-view with another company. Overall, this is just a really cool thing for WWE to do.
