Fantasy Booking an AEW/WWE Pay-Per-View

AEW/WWE pay-per-view is something that has been talked about since AEW was formed, and there has been a lot of talk about the two companies working together as of late. The talks picked up when a couple of AEW stars appeared on WWE Monday Night Raw to congratulate John Cena on his 20-year anniversary. Of course, after seeing this, it gave wrestling fans everywhere hope that maybe one day, we can see an AEW/WWE show. It also showed that maybe the rivalry between them isn’t really a rivalry at all. Tony Khan, CEO of AEW, has said that he is open to collaborating with WWE for a pay-per-view. I’m going to be booking this show as if no wrestler is injured because, in my fantasy booking, injuries don’t exist to wrestlers. So, what would an AEW/WWE show look like?

*Commentary Team*

Pat McAfee & Excalibur

Calling all of the action is going to be Pat McAfee from Friday Night Smackdown and Excalibur from Dynamite. These are the two best commentators in the business right now. I think the pairing of McAfee and Excalibur should be incredible. With McAfee’s charisma and Excalibur’s extensive knowledge of every wrestling move, they make the perfect pair. Also, I think two people on commentary, instead of three, works better.

New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston, & Xavier Woods) vs The Elite (Young Bucks & Kenny Omega)

This match is one the fans have been asking for. These groups are no strangers to each other and have talked about wanting to face off in the past. This one will be fun in all of the right ways. I think these teams will bring the best out of each other. They’re all so competitive and have been on top of the tag-team division for quite some time. I would book the Elite to win, but dirty. Kenny Omega would hit Big E with his broom while the referee’s back is turned.

Winner: The Elite (Young Bucks & Kenny Omega)

MJF vs The Miz

MJF has been toying with the idea of jumping ship to WWE, so this is a match that could really happen. Both men have a similar gimmick, I usually explain the Miz as a WWE version of MJF. These two have also been compared to one another before. During his feud with CM Punk, Punk called MJF a less famous Miz. MJF has also called Miz one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. This one has all of the potential to be the best match on the card. I have the Miz winning in a dirty way. MJF tries to use a dirty tactic, but Miz shows his experience by countering it with a dirty move himself and getting him the win.

Winner: The Miz

*Raw Women’s Championship Match*

Bianca Belair (c) vs Jade Cargill (c)

These are two of the most athletic and powerful women in wrestling. Jade has yet to lose a professional wrestling match sitting at 33-0. Belair is the current Raw Women’s Champion. This match should be every bit incredible. Two of the best wrestlers in the world get to showcase their skills. Jade is easily a future women’s world champion and Belair has already established herself as one of the best wrestlers of the past decade. I can’t even begin to imagine how incredible this match would be so let’s pray that we get it one day.

Winner: Bianca Belair (c)

*Winner Take All Match*

The Usos (c) vs FTR (c)

These are two of the most decorated tag-team wrestlers of all time. The Usos are eight-time tag-team champions in WWE and FTR has held the Smackdown, Raw, NXT, AAA, ROH, AEW, and IWGP Heavyweight tag-team championships. Both of these teams are really good, future hall of famers. FTR has been on a run of a lifetime since leaving WWE as the current ROH, AAA, and NJPW tag-team champions, but they didn’t have that much success in WWE. I think they were immensely underutilized once they got called up to the main roster. If you haven’t seen any of their NXT Takeover matches, you need to go watch them. I’m giving FTR all of the tag-team gold in the world.

Winner: FTR (c)

*AEW Women’s Championship Match*

Sasha Banks vs Thunder Rosa (c)

Sasha Banks is a top three women’s wrestler however you slice it. She is currently not on-screen in WWE ever since she and Naomi walked out of Raw. She is a six-time women’s world champion in WWE and is going to be a hall of famer. Thunder Rosa is the current AEW Women’s Champion. She has had a solid run as champion, and I think facing off against Sasha will bring the best out of her. These two have similar styles so I believe they will have great chemistry in the ring.

Winner: Thunder Rosa (c)

*Last Man Standing Match*

Christian Cage vs Edge

The pair are no strangers to each other. The long-time tag-team partners will become enemies when they face off. Both men have been having a great run over the past year, each seemingly reinventing themselves again and having success doing so. This one will be strategic and slow-paced. These wrestlers know each other so well, that they are going to have to pull out some new moves to try to beat each other. I have Edge winning, by doing a crazy spot to Cage.

Winner: Edge

*Death Match*

Britt Baker vs Becky Lynch

These women are two of the best female wrestlers in the world. Pitting the pair against each other will make for an entertaining match. Both are talented in the ring, so this one will be very good in-ring-wise as well. The promo’s leading up to the match will be really good too, they will have no problem building the hype for this match. This one will be bloody and physical, but Baker will pull out the win since she has more experience with these types of matches.

Winner: Britt Baker

Kevin Owens vs Chris Jericho

Although Owens and Jericho have fought before, I want to see it again. Owens has grown and evolved as a wrestler since their last encounter and Jericho has reinvented himself numerous times since then. I would book it as Jericho announces a new member of the Jericho Appreciation Society, Kevin Owens, in the weeks leading up to the show. Owens will turn on Jericho, just like Jericho turned on him at one of the greatest wrestling segments in the last decade, the Festival of Friendship. That will set up this match between the two. The buildup to this match will be really entertaining and the match itself will be very good.

Winner: Kevin Owens

Randy Orton vs Sting

I would book this match as the legend killer version of Orton trying to end the career of Sting. In my opinion, that was the best version of Randy Orton. Sting has found his second wind since joining AEW. He is putting on classic match after classic match and doing things that no one his age should do. He is one of the most iconic wrestlers in history, which Orton can’t stand. Orton is going to pull out all of the heel tactics during the match. He is going to be on offense for most of the match, but Sting is going to turn the tables towards the end. Sting is going to try to hit a big move to try to end the match. He is going to miss the move, and Orton is going to RKO him. He doesn’t stop there and punt-kicks Sting, ultimately winning him the match, and possibly ending Stings’ career.

Winner: Randy Orton

*Winner Take All Match*

CM Punk (c) vs Roman Reigns (c)

CM Punk has been nothing short of amazing since returning to professional wrestling. Roman has been doing the best work of his career over the past year. You can’t have an AEW and WWE show without both of these men. They’re at the top of the business and the top of their companies. They are going to clash in a winner take all championship match. This one is going to have a big fight feel, with each man defending his company. It is going to be a long match, with each wrestler getting his fair share of offense in. Roman is going to win, by just overpowering Punk in the end. He is going to superman punch him, spear him, and then just lay down fists on him until the referee calls it. Reigns will win the AEW World Championship but will leave the AEW title in the ring relinquishing the title as soon as he won it in the main event of the AEW/WWE pay-per-view.

Winner: Roman Reigns (c)

There are so many different matches you could make for an AEW/WWE pay-per-view. With so many talented wrestlers in both companies, it could be a five-night event. There is endless potential to put on the AEW/WWE show. Since Tony Khan has said he would be open to working with WWE, and his father, Nick Khan, is the President of the company, it gives me hope that one day we might actually get an AEW/WWE pay-per-view.
