Shane Griffith is Awesome and Penn State Goes Perfect -NCAA Wrestling

Shane Griffith shocked the world and Penn State goes a perfect 4/4 in the finals.

I did a live blog Saturday night of the NCAA Wrestling Finals, but I needed a day or two to digest what actually went down in St. Louis. Liveblogging the event was a cool experience, but I was writing in a different way and was more commentating than giving my own thoughts.

Spencer Lee

This dude is insane. There are few words that can be said about the Iowa Hawkeye 125 pound National Champion. In a post-match interview, he told the world that he tore is ACL eight days prior to winning the entire tournament.

“I didn’t want to tell anyone, because that’s excuses. Excuses are for wusses!”

Spencer Lee

The man dominated the tournament with no ACL’s. Wrestlers are just built differently. He was the only Hawkeye to win an individual title, but they did win as a team.

Shane Griffith

The eight seeded wrestler at the 165 pound weight class upset the entire tournament and won it all. However, there is something really wrong with this situation. Griffith wore a black singlet without any school branding.

Stanford has decided to cut their wrestling program at the conclusion of this season. He almost didn’t wrestle the season because his school had abandoned him and his teammates. They made their lives a living hell when it came to competing during the time of the pandemic, but he made it work and won it all.

It sucks for this guy his entire post-match interview he was somber and it seemed like he didn’t even have a chance to celebrate his accomplishment.

Penn State

Penn State went 4/4 Saturday night winning at 133, 141, 174, and 184-pound weight classes, and still somehow finished second in the team standings. That is not to belittle Penn State, but Iowa was an insane team this year.

Cael Sanderson stole the show on the final night of the tournament. His big names came through and reminded the world they are still the best team in the country.
