Sedrick Van Pran 2024 NFL Draft Profile
We’re talking offensive linemen from Georgia today. What should people know about Dawgs center, Sedrick Van Pran? Let’s talk about it in this edition of the 2024 NFL Draft Profile series!
Just off the rip here, I think people should feel a sense of deja vu. Remember all of the things people said about Jamaree Salyer? Maye wasn’t a pure freak like some of the players on Georgia’s roster but he was just a really damn good football player? Then he went way too low in the draft and the Chargers got a total steal. That’s kinda how I feel the Van Pran story will go.
Again, no, Van Pran isn’t a freak. His 5.20 time at the 40 during the Combine isn’t anything crazy. He checks in at 6-foot-4, 298, with under 32 inch arms. The raw athletic stuff isn’t going to kill you. However, this is what I do know. He’s a three year starter at center for Georgia and their players are better than your players. Van Pran was Second-team Associated Press All-American, First-team All-SEC, a finalist for the Rimington Trophy, and SEC Jacobs Blocking Trophy. Bums don’t just appear on those lists.
Van Pran isn’t a perfect prospect. He’s undersized and probably needs to keep getting stronger. However, he’s got pretty quick short area feet and he usually always finds a way to just be in control. He’s also been really good setting up run block stuff at the second level. He’s been part of the charge helping break long runs down the field.
I’m a Sedrick Van Pran fan. I think he’s a second round player and someone who will turn into a plus starter but he’s going to go lower than that because of the measurable stuff. At some point, you pull the trigger and you sleep well at night knowing you landed a good starting center on the cheap.
