The headache is gone, the distractions are over, and the Seahawks got robbed. That’s how I view this next piece of news anyway. Jamal Adams got traded to Seattle! A mega trade just went down!
ESPN’s Adam Schefter was the first to report the news:
Adams, 24, is regarded as one of the best safeties in football, but this is an asinine trade by Seattle. Adams is a box safety with zero ball production. Fun fact… Bradley McDougald has more interceptions than Jamal Adams over the last two years. In fact, it’s not close. McDougald has 5 compared to two for Adams.
I wrote a column on why I would trade Jamal Adams. He’s not worth the squeeze. There’s no way in my mind I thought the Jets would net two first round picks in this deal. Seattle was a good team last year but it was a Russell Wilson one man show going 11-5 with a +7 point differential. This team could easily miss the playoffs next year in a tough division. Wilson was the most valuable QB in the league last year so he’d have to repeat on an unbelievable season.
This is the Percy Harvin trade all over again. They’re bascially saying Adams is worth two first round picks and then what will be a record breaking extension on top of it. Big overpay for a player that won’t deliver. Hey, have fun with a box safety that will pick up a few sacks on untouched blitz packages! Seattle got a hair better today. The Jets expedited their rebuild in a BIG way.
