Sarah Nurse, Anaheim Ducks star unveiled as NHL 23 cover athletes
Anaheim Ducks young stud Trevor Zegras is continuing his rise to stardom. The 21-year-old is accompanied by Team Canada superstar Sarah Nurse on the cover of NHL 23. Take a look at the new reveal:
The former BU standout is gradually becoming a household name. After bursting onto the NHL scene with a respectable 61 points in 75 games, Year 2 will contain much more hype and expectations. After all, Zegras now joins the likes of Connor McDavid and Auston Matthews as NHL cover athletes. While it may take some time for the Bedford, N.Y. native to reach those heights, he seems well-equipped for a long and fruitful NHL career.
Breaking Down Barriers
Sarah Nurse has also made headlines for great reasons. After an exceptional 2022 Olympics with Team Canada, she becomes the first ever female cover athlete for an NHL game. When tuning into any game of Team Canada’s gold medal campaign, you could not keep your eyes off the Ontario native. She set new Olympic records for both the most assists (13) and points (18) in any women’s campaign. With all of that coming in only seven games, it’s safe to say that she was unstoppable in Beijing. Nurse is an incredible flag-bearer for the women’s game, as you would be a fool not to watch the next edition of the World Championships. To make it even better, Nurse and Team Canada face off against Team Finland tomorrow at 7 p.m.
Trevor Zegras and Sarah Nurse are both pioneers in their respective divisions. Zegras represents the future of the game as one of the most fun-to-watch players and his sophmore campaign could certainly be one to remember. As for Nurse, she is one of the bright lights in female hockey. After showing her brilliance at the 2022 Winter Games, fans everywhere have another chance to see why she is a trailblazer and an excellent player. While some may see the newest cover of NHL 23 as a surprise, I can definitely see why both deserve it.
