Sancho’s Benching

Sancho's Benching

Speculation flew around all day when Jadon Sancho did not start in the last game. Borussia Dortmund hosted RB Leipzig and won 2-0. However, Sancho’s absence was making people speculate. But Sancho’s benching was due to him being exhausted after starting the last four games.

Dortmund’s chief, Michael Zorc, was denying allegations that Sancho was distracted. People are believing that the 20-year-old is distracted by his possible move to Manchester United.

Zorc commented on how tired Sancho was. He told his coach that he wouldn’t be able to play a 90-minute game. In the 78 minute, Sancho did enter when the team was already up 1-0.

Luckily for Sancho, there is only one more round of Bundesliga games left. Dortmund will host Hoffenheim on Saturday, June 27. This will allow Sancho to rest after many intense games.

Zorc did indicate that Sancho is thinking about where he will go but was vague about how that is affecting the player. He told Ruhr Nachrichten that “it is clear that we are concerned. But I don’t want to talk about that now.”

Man United isn’t the only team currently interested in Sancho. There have been links to Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City. However, with Chelsea’s big purchase on Timo Werner, it is unlikely they will compete hard for Sancho.

Dortmund will most likely want around £100 million for Sancho. He has been able to provide 17 goals and 17 assists within the 31 appearances for this season.

Sancho’s benching was merely him getting tired. But he will probably have the energy within him to play one last game with Dortmund this season.
