Adam Gase is the new head football coach of the New York Jets. He has a big responsibility in New York; Get the most out of Sam Darnold. Year 2 of a quarterback’s development is the most important time to shine. It’s a true make or break year in a lot of cases. To get Darnold up to speed on Gase’s offense, he has a pretty logical strategy.

Darnold has been tasked with studying Peyton Manning and Jay Cutler’s film while each of them played in Gase’s offense:

“He can watch concepts,” Gase said, via the Jets’ official website. “I think he’s just taking it in a little bit at a time and he’s picking certain things to watch, whether it’s a conceptual thing, protections, footwork or certain routes. We have it broken down so many ways. I just think he’s trying to pick certain points that he wants to improve on.”

A lot of people are making a big deal over the GM getting fired. That’s fair. However, the most important thing is that Gase and Darnold work together. That’s it. Mike Maccagnan wasn’t that important once the draft was over anyway. Get a gm in town and get this thing rolling.

I believe Gase knows what he’s doing. I can at least see a plan. in 2013, Peyton set NFL records with 55 touchdown passes and 5,477 passing yards in his first year in Gase’s scheme. Cutler also posted a career-high 92.3 passer rating and completing a career-high 64.4 percent of passes. Smoking Jay also made the NFC Title Game. Ryan Tannehill even made the playoffs. Now it’s Sam’s turn. I’m excited to see what the Jets are capable of in 2019.
