Russell Wilson Broke An NFL Record For Being Terrible

The Broncos have officially released Russell Wilson and the veteran quarterback broke an NFL record in one fell swoop. Well, this broken record falls in the category of being terrible, but I’m not sure he will mind. Mostly because he’s a very rich man in the process.

This trade to acquire Russell Wilson will go down as one of the worst in NFL history. It’s not because they gave up a bunch of draft picks. This contract will completely ruin the Broncos’ cap for the next two years too. People forget when the Herschel Walker trade went down there was no salary cap. This Wilson trade takes the cake when you consider that.

Wilson breaks two records for being terrible:

One for being the highest dead money figure for a single season in NFL history.

With the way the cap keeps going up, maybe this one will get broken in the near future. However, this next one will be tough to top. Wilson will take up $85 million in dead money over the next two years, which is an NFL record. It’s the most amount of dead money a player has ever screwed over a team’s books.

I guess the only thing that’s surprising is the fact that George Paton still has a job. I thought he was a dead dog walking after all this. That is not the case. He gets to hold his head high while getting paid millions to make the worst trade in NFL history. Must be nice!
