Get ready for a monster Rhamondre Stevenson season. With Damien Harris out the door, Rhamondre Stevenson is the guy and he knows it. The Las Vegas native spoke more about handling a heavy workload this upcoming season for the Patriots.
“Damien’s out of here now, so I’m kind of the guy,” Stevenson said after Tuesday’s OTA. “Just trying to make sure I’m ready for the end of the season this year… Taking care of my body, just trying to be proactive.”
“It’s just a long season,” Stevenson said. “You just have to mentally prepare for that long season. That’s the best you can do, just mentally prepare. Know it’s a 17-game season. You’ve gotta after it.”
Stevenson, 25, was already the face of the Patriots offense last year. It’s just really official now that Harris signed with the Bills. Harris’ deal with Buffalo is just a one year, $1.7 million deal. If the Pats wanted to, they could have easily brought Harris back for that.
On 279 touches in 2022, Stevenson racked up 1461 yards from scrimmage. The former Oklahoma product has become a three down player and is very underrated as a pass catcher. Fantasy owners should be willing to pick Stevenson again despite the uncertainty with the Patriots offense. Stevenson had 88 targets in the passing game which is a number I bet you didn’t expect. I can’t see how the Patriots reduce his touches with less competition on the roster. The backups behind Stevenson consist of James Robinson, Pierre Strong, Kevin Harris, and Ty Montgomery.
