Revolution Coach Bruce Arena On Leave Pending Investigation

New England Revolution head coach and sporting director Bruce Arena has been placed on administrative leave pending an MLS investigation into Arena.

“New England Revolution Sporting Director and Head Coach Bruce Arena has been placed on administrative leave pending a review into allegations that he made insensitive and inappropriate remarks,” MLS said in a statement.

The Revolution also released its own statement on the matter.

“The New England Revolution organization has placed Coach Arena on administrative leave as a result of an ongoing investigation being conducted by Major League Soccer into allegations of insensitive and inappropriate remarks,” the New England Revolution said in their statement. “The organization takes any allegations of workplace misconduct extremely seriously and is working closely with the League and fully cooperating with its investigation.”

The Revolution is having a great season so far. The club is currently in second place in the MLS’s Eastern Conference. The Revolution has 43 points and only trails a high-flying FC Cincinnati which has 51 points.

They have also qualified for the knockout stages of the 2023 Leagues Cup. They finished second in a group that also included MLS’s New York Red Bulls and Liga MX’s Atlético San Luis. They will play Liga MX side Atlas in the Round of 32.

Losing Arena is a huge blow for the Revolution. The former USMNT manager is the most successful coach in MLS history for a good reason. He is an excellent manager who knows how to manage in the MLS. His Revolution side won the 2021 MLS Supporter’s Shield, and his team this year is having an impressive campaign.

Curt Onalfo has been made the Revolution’s interim sporting director and Richie Williams has been named the interim head coach. Although the club is having a good season so far, it will be interesting to see how the Revolution copes without Arena on the sideline.
