Ray Allen is Back in Miami, This Time as a Coach
Ray Allen is headed back to South Beach, but this time, he is a coach. Allen is taking the head coaching position at Gulliver Prep, a private school in Miami. He will also be the Director of Boys and Girls Basketball for the co-ed prep school.
In a tweet, the school said:
“Coach Allen brings unparalleled expertise to the helm of our basketball programs.”

Allen played 19 seasons in the NBA, spending his last two in Miami. With the Heat, Allen won the 2013 NBA title on a team with LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. The 46-year-old is a 10-time All-Star, two-time NBA champ having also won a title with the Boston Celtics in 2008, and is first all-time in three point field goals made – although the Warriors’ Stephen Curry could soon eclipse that mark.
Gulliver Prep’s hiring of Allen certainly came as a shock to the basketball world, as he has no head coaching experience. According to Local 10, a Miami-based news network, the former UConn Huskie was an assistant for the middle school program and is a parent at Gulliver.
