Puka Nacua: What’s His Dynasty Value In Fantasy?
It sure looks like Puka Nacua is going to be a thing in fantasy… huh?
James Herrick just did the post on the best waiver wire pickups for fantasy and Nacua’s name is firmly on the list. Nacua may have some value as a rookie, but I’m far more interested in what his long term outlook is in fantasy. Is Nacua becoming an interesting add for keeper and dynasty players too?
For starters, I believe in Nacua far more than say a guy like Tank Dell. The person pushing that narrative is an idiot. Nacua isn’t a midget like Dell. The former BYU product is 6-foot-2 and really flashed during the predraft process. He was a darling during the Senior Bowl. That’s what makes his NFL debut feel far less fluky.
Nacua, 23, went for 10 receptions and 119 yards during his first game in the NFL. I’m not sure we’re getting that every week but I’m not sure it’s a total fluke either. Not having Cooper Kupp on the field is going to open up a lot more targets for the rest of the receivers on the field. With that said, Nacua may be carving out a role for himself regardless.
The Rams are so hard pressed against the cap that they need cheap labor like this to produce. Going forward, it’s not like the Rams can afford these high priced ticket items yet. If Nacua is involved now, he probably will be involved going forward too.
If you have an open spot on your dynasty team, I don’t hate the idea of going to pick him up. I’m not sure I’m dying to have him just based on the way this Rams season will likely go. Sooooo don’t blow your FAB money for redraft or keeper but I’d definitely sprinkle here.
