Premier League Predictions and Final Standings
The English Premier League is finishing on Sunday to see who will qualify for Champions League and who will be relegated. Photo by Andrew Yates.

On July 26, Premier League has a big day ahead of them. It has the last games of the season. All 20 teams will face off in ten different games at 11 a.m. EST. The league’s fans are preparing themselves for the final game that will tell them if they qualify for Champions League, stay safely in the middle or get relegated. Here is my big Premier League Sunday preview and final standings predictions.

Leicester City vs. Manchester United

This is one of the biggest games of the season. Man U is currently sitting in third place with 63 points and a goal differential of 28. Only one point behind is Leicester who is sitting in fifth.

If Man U wins this game then it guarantees their spot in Champions League next year. If Leicester wins then they will jump into third with the potential of knocking Chelsea out of the top four.

Although Leicester has done great this season, Man U is the probable victor of this game. Looking at the last five games that they’ve played against each other, Man U has won four games and they’ve tied one.

With Bruno Fernandes and Paul Pogba becoming a great duo, Man U will pull through with a win.

Chelsea vs. Wolves

This is the other biggest game on Sunday. Chelsea is sitting in fourth with 63 points and a goal differential of 13. Wolves have had a good season and are sitting in sixth with 59 points and a goal differential of 13.

If Chelsea wins this game, that will guarantee their spot in Champions League next year. If Wolves win then they will stay in sixth place but will put Chelsea’s position at risk.

Even though Chelsea has had a rocky season, there is enough fuel for them to win. The team wants to make Champions League next year. They will work hard at making sure that happens. As long as Chelsea’s offense can score, then they have a chance. Their defense is still fragile, so the offense will have to carry the team.

But looking at the last five games against each other, Chelsea has won three, tied one and lost one to the Wolves. Chelsea will win and qualify for Champions League as long as they push with everything that they have.

Arsenal vs. Watford

Arsenal’s season has come as a shock to many. They finished fifth in 2019, and have struggled to stay in the top ten this season. They’re currently sitting in tenth with 53 points and a goal differential of seven. Watford is on the cusp of being relegated this season. They’re sitting in 18th with only 34 points and a goal differential of -27.

With their last five games against each other, Arsenal has won three, tied one and lost one to Watford.

Considering their current standings and their history, Arsenal is likely to win this game. However, Watford could be trying to bring all they have to ensure they don’t get relegated. But even with their motivation, Arsenal will most likely win.

Burnley vs. Brighton

This game will be a close one. Even though Burnley is in ninth with 54 points and a goal differential of -6, Brighton will be a good challenger. Brighton currently sits in 16th with 38 points and a -18-point goal differential.

Within their last five games, Burnley has won two and the other three games ended in a tie.

This will be one of the only games that will end in a tie on Sunday. I think both teams will be fighting hard, but will ultimately end in a tie. This game will most likely push Burnley into tenth and Brighton will stay in 16th.

Crystal Palace vs. Tottenham Hotspurs

If Tottenham wins this game, it won’t be a very big surprise. They’re in seventh place with 58 points and a 14-point goal differential. Crystal Palace is sitting in 14th with 42 points and a goal differential of -19.

Within their last five games, Tottenham has won four of the five games against Palace. By Tottenham winning this game, it will probably push them into sixth. Palace is likely to stay in 14th.

Everton vs. Bournemouth

This will be another close game. However, with how well Everton has done this season, they’ll probably walk away with the win.

Everton is sitting in 11th with 49 points and a goal differential of -10. Then Bournemouth is sitting in a relegation spot at 19th with 31 points and a goal differential of -27.

In their last five games, they’ve both won two and had one game that ended in a tie. Bournemouth may come out hard to try and get out of a relegation spot. They are tied with Watford for points and goal differential. Aston Villa sits in 17th with the same points but one less goal differential point. If Bournemouth tries hard enough, they could pull out of a relegation spot. However, Everton will probably come out on top, making Bournemouth say goodbye to the Premier League.

Manchester City vs. Norwich

This game should be an easy sweep for Man City. They have secured second place with 78 points and a goal differential of 62. While Norwich will be relegated since they are in the last place with only 21 points and a -44-point goal differential.

Man City has been a tough competitor for the last three years and won’t stop. They’ve won and drawn two games out of the last five. Norwich has only won one time out of the five.

Sadly for Norwich, they are 10 points behind Bournemouth, leaving them to be relegated regardless of how this game goes.

Newcastle vs. Liverpool

Much like the City game, this should be an easy game for Liverpool. Liverpool celebrated their Premier League title win on Wednesday after their game against Chelsea.  They secured the title early in the season. They have an astounding 96 points with a goal differential of 50. Newcastle sits in 13th place with 44 points and a -18-point goal differential.

Out of the last five games, Liverpool has walked out with the win. Then the other finished in a tie.

Even if Jurgen Klopp decides to bench his star players, Liverpool would win the game. Even if Newcastle pulled out a win, they would stay in 13th place.

Southampton vs. Sheffield United

This game will be a toss-up. Southampton sits in 12th with 49 points and a goal differential of -11. Sheffield United are sitting in eighth place with 54 points and a 2-point goal differential.

In their last five games, they’ve both won 2 games and tied one. Although they’ve had close games in the past, Sheffield United should be able to pull through on this game.

Both should stay in their places for the final standings of the season if this game ends with Sheffield United winning.

West Ham vs. Aston Villa

Last but not least, this should be a very close game. West Ham sits in 15th with 38 points and a goal differential of -13. Aston Villa is in a close relegation spot in 17th place with 34 points and a -26-point goal differential.

Within their last five games against each other, West Ham has bee able to win two, tie two and lose one. This plus their current stats make it believable that West Ham will win.

However, Aston Villa is in a close relegation spot so they could be bringing all that they have in this game. If either Watford or Bournemouth wins their game then Aston Villa will be relegated. It will be a very close game, but West Ham will probably win or at least tie the game.
