Portland Trail Blazers Sign Carmelo Anthony

The Portland Trail Blazers decided to make love with the devil. They decided to sell their soul. The Trail Blazers just did the unthinkable. Carmelo Anthony is the newest member of the Trail Blazers after the two sides came to an agreement on a deal. Melo will presumably sign a one year deal with Portland.

Portland is signing Carmelo Anthony, league source tells ESPN.

Woj has also reported that the deal in non guaranteed. That means Portland can move on from Melo at any time. I’m sure that will happen eventually. The last team Carmelo played for (the Rockets) Houston decided to move on after 10 games. I’m sure he will last longer with Portland but it’s hard to imagine he has anything left.

Over the last two years with OKC and Houston, Carmelo is shooting below 41 percent. Melo has also been a notorious ball stopper and turnstile on the defensive end. I’ve been a known critic of Melo. He’s one of the biggest cancers in the history of basketball. I’m shocked he got signed, to be honest. This may be the last opportunity for Melo so maybe he will be on his best behavior. It’s a fascinating move by the Blazers that have been that 2nd tier team in the West for what seems like forever.

As far as Portland is concerned, they do need another wing. They lost Al Farouq-Aminu in the offseason and really haven’t replaced him. They don’t really have a true reliable wing on the roster. Kent Bazemore and Rodney Hood are the only options. With Zach Collins on the shelf for a while, Portland does need more depth as well. I’m sure Portland isn’t done. They may be in the market to flip the Hassan Whiteside contract eventually for another piece.
