Philadelphia Eagles 2019 NFL Training Camp Preview

Philadelphia Eagles
Carson Wentz is tired of you talking shit on him. Get ready for a monster breakout season. What else is there to look out for as the Philadelphia Eagles open up training camp in 2019? (Bill Streicher/USA Today)

The Philadelphia Eagles are dangerous! I’ve been very confused by the public opinion on the Eagles. People are way higher on the Cowboys and way down on Carson Wentz? WHY? It truly is amazing how short some people’s memories are. Do we really forget about Carson Wentz being the leading MVP candidate in 2017 prior to his knee injury? The NFC East has not had a repeat winner since 2004. Put it in the bank. Philadelphia steamrolls through that division. They are the highestrated team in Madden for a reason. This team is LOADED. Dangerous I tell ya! Let’s take a look at what the Philadelphia Eagles will bring to the dinner table as they opening up training camp!

3 Position Battles To Watch:

Running Back: Jordan Howard, Corey Clement, Miles Sanders, Josh Adams, Wendell Smallwood, Darren Sproles, Donnel Pumphrey, Boston Scott

The amount of running backs on the Eagles roster is absurd. It’s one of the biggest reasons why I hated the Miles Sanders pick. There is no way they can keep all of them In fact, I don’t see a scenario where Jordan Howard, Corey Clement, and Miles Sanders aren’t the backs to start the season. Maybe they decide to keep a 4th. In that case, Josh Adams and Wendall Smallwood are about to have a death match for the ages. Darren Sproles should just retire. It’s time.

Wide Receiver: Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson, Nelson Agholor, JJ Arcega-Whiteside, Shelton Gibson, Mack Hollins, Greg Ward, Braxton Miller

I can continue that same sentiment with the receivers. What did you need JJ Arcega-Whiteside for? He has such an odd skillset to begin with that I’m not sure that he will even make it. Alshon Jeffery is your jump ball guy already. DeSean Jackson is an upgrade over Torrey Smith. Nelson Agholor does Nelson Agholor things. That’s your main group. Mack Hollins excels in special teams. The ship has probably sailed on Shelton Gibson turning into the next D-Jax, huh?

Middle Linebacker: Zach Brown, Paul Worrilow, TJ Edwards, TJ Fort

Philadelphia has one glaring weakness. It’s the only hole on the entire roster. Losing Jordan Hicks stings… bad. Hicks wasn’t always healthy, but he is a hell of a player. I was stunned they didn’t’ draft one either. Zach Brown was a really sneaky pickup. Washington got rid of the guy for no good reason. He will start and be 85 percent of Hicks. Keep an eye on TJ Edwards becoming a dark horse factor. He was a good player at Wisconsin.

Ready To Breakout: Carson Wentz

Go ahead and keep talking shit on Carson Wentz. You’re going to look really dumb if you do. This is one of the 5 best quarterback talents in the league. Wentz will return as a legit MVP candidate again. Put 40 touchdowns on the board no problem. This Eagles offense is going to be electric. Go ahead, keep doubting him. Wentz is going to come out firing.

Rookie To Watch: Andre Dillard

Put this on the board. Jason Peters will get hurt at some point. How do I know that? Well, because it happens pretty much every year. Andre Dillard will see the field. The Washington State tackle is the best pure pass protector in the draft. He’s the future left tackle in what was a brilliant move by Howie Roseman to trade up ahead of the Texans to snag him.

Fantasy Sleeper: Dallas Goedert

Why not Dallas Goedert? I hate to use this name but why can’t he be the Aaron Hernandez to Rob Gronkowski. Hernandez had years where he was a productive fantasy tight end. Heading into year two, I think Goedert emerges as a real receiving threat. Wentz has unreal chemistry with Zach Ertz already. Maybe Wentz fancies the other tight end too?
