Prior to the start of the season, I put together a write-up on Phil Jurkovec having a chance to revitalize his NFL hopes with Pitt. I mostly faded Jurkovec. I just think he’s totally dead in the lower half but weirder things have happened before. Now that we’re a few weeks into the CFB season, things have totally tanked.
Forget about future NFL quarterback. Jurkovec couldn’t even keep his job as a QB for Pitt. Things are so bad that he’s apparently a tight end now.
“Pitt quarterback Phil Jurkovec started taking snaps at tight end this week in practice, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Thursday.”
“A source confirmed the move to ESPN, saying it was likely Jurkovec would remain there for the rest of the year.”
Good hell. This thing got ugly quick, huh…
The former Boston College transfer has predictably stunk it up for Pitt. The Panthers are 1-4 this year and rank 13th in the conference in passing yards. Jurkovec has a 37.5 QBR with six TDs and three INTs. That’s while completing 50.9% of his throws.
It’s officially over for Jurkovec. You can cross him off your watch list for the NFL. Also, the tight end thing feels like a joke, doesn’t it? The guy can barely run. He’s not running anything under a five flat in the 40. No chance. How do you expect him to now go be a tight end? I’m not the only one that thinks this is crazy, right?
