Paul Felder added to UFC roster, return targeted for UFC 300

Paul Felder’s UFC return is one step closer to coming to fruition. Felder has been added to the UFC roster and his return is being targeted for UFC 300, according to MMA reporters The Schmo and Helen Yee of The Schmozone Podcast.

Felder recently re-entered the USADA testing pool after teasing an MMA return. Felder explained that his competitive juices were flowing after watching Chan Sung Jung fight Max Holloway. Now, it appears that he is doing more than teasing MMA fans.

Felder’s addition to the roster is a great step toward making a return; however, the promotion working to book him a fight for UFC 300 is an even bigger sign. The promotion could have easily squashed his hopes of fighting again. Instead, it looks like they are interested in seeing him in the octagon.

Felder, 39, originally retired from MMA in 2021. Since that time, he had an increased presence in the UFC commentary booth and dove into the world of MMA media. He’s still at an age where a return to competition is possible, and he’s been competing in triathlons and is certainly in shape.

Felder would have plenty of time to prepare for UFC 300. The card is currently expected to take place early in the spring of 2024.

Felder is a fan-favorite who consistently got into fun fights throughout his career. It would make sense to book him against another lightweight veteran, which should not be tough to accomplish since it’s a division filled with respected veterans.

Paul Felder’s return is certainly not a given; however, it appears like he and the UFC are on the same page. With that being said, we are still over six months away from his hypothetical return. If Felder loses his competitive drive or gets injured before his fight is booked, his return could be scrapped.
