Paul Felder, UFC Legend, Retires From MMA At Age 37

Paul Felder, beloved UFC lightweight fighter and commentator has retired from MMA at the age of 37. Felder cited the fact that he did not see a good path to the belt as a reason for this retirement.

Paul Felder’s UFC Career

Felder had an impressive career, boasting a 17-6 record with 10 knockouts. One of his most well-known fights came when he took on Rafael Dos Anjos with only five days’ notice and fought to a split decision loss. The UFC world praised Felder for taking the fight on such short notice and showing up ready for a war. Felder also lost to Dan Hooker last year by split decision. One of Felder’s biggest accomplishments in the UFC was his victory over current lightweight champion Charles Oliveira.

Paul Felder’s Commentary Career

Felder has been a staple in the UFC’s commentary of Fight Nights in the past couple of years. The chemistry he has with fellow commentator Michael Bisping is awesome to watch. His knowledge of the sport, as well as his personality, makes UFC events fun to watch or listen to.

Why Is Felder Retiring?

Felder gave a few reasons in his announcement of his retirement, citing family, lack of drive, and age. Regardless of the reason for his retirement, the world of MMA has gained much from what Felder has done for the sport, both inside and outside of the octagon. I wish Felder nothing but the best in the future, and genuinely hope he stays on the commentary panel for years to come.
