Parasyte: Anime Review and Rating
This anime is a lesser-known anime but is one of the few gems that I have found to recommend to others. Okay, well, I didn’t find it, some of my wife’s friends are weebs and recommended it to me. Now, I recommend it to other people to make me feel intellectual. Anyway, Parasyte is not necessarily a mainstream anime but it is becoming more known as time goes on. This anime came out in 2014. It’s labeled as a horror anime but I mean it didn’t scare me, it was just a more unique concept.
A parasite has struck the Earth from space and has affected many people. This worm-like parasite tries to take over people by entering their brains going through people’s noses or ears. The entire process happens within seconds as the parasites only have a few seconds to do this before it fails. This happens to our main character Shinichi Izumi, however, he wakes up during this and the parasite goes through his arm. Shinichi feeling the parasite cuts off circulation to his arm so the parasite can’t go anywhere. It eventually takes over his right arm and has its own personality and consciousness. The parasite becomes Shinichi’s trust partner named Migi.
As humans are being controlled by these parasites, Shinichi, with Migi, feels compelled to fight them to destroy them to save humanity.
Rating: 8.5/10
This anime is definitely underrated. I love this anime and encourage everyone to watch it. Not only are the action parts cool, but the story is great with a unique concept. As the story develops, you notice the change in Shinichi and Migi as they start adapting to each other personalities. Parasyte was a very interesting anime to watch, I would say it is, or close to, the top 10 on my anime list for me. That’s just off the top of my head, it very well could be top 10. Eventually, I will do a top 10 list, but there are just so many animes I have to watch.
