Ravens offensive lineman Orlando Brown Jr. desperately wants to play left tackle. Should the Ravens be unwilling to move him to LT, he may ask to be traded in order to play the position he wants.
Orlando Brown Jr. Wants to be a Left Tackle.
Brown Jr. perked some ears last month when he tweeted he wanted to play Left Tackle. However, the Ravens like the way the line is currently constructed. Therefore, it could be more than likely he is traded by next season. Should it be he takes this stance in the argument.
Playing the position is personal for Brown Jr. His father the late great Orlando “Zeus” Brown, always wanted his son to play the position he made a name for himself in. Brown Jr. has no ill will against the Ravens. He even thanked Ravens General Manager Eric DeCosta for bringing him to the Ravens. However, Brown Jr. has made it abundantly clear he will not stay in a place in which he cannot play Left Tackle. Brown Jr. added that it is not about the money.
I’m so appreciative for this organization and all my teammates. I couldn’t thank DeCosta enough, he’s an incredible football mind and one the best men i know. I want to live out my dream my dad had for me.
Orlando Brown Jr.
Nevertheless, it is going to be highly unlikely Brown Jr. stays with the Ravens. Ronnie Stanley plays Left Tackle for the Ravens and the organization has just signed him to a five-year, $98.75 million dollar extension in October.
Brown Jr. is heading into the final season of his rookie contract. DeCosta is interested in extending the young lineman. However, Brown Jr. said it is not about the money that ultimately seems unlikely. If Baltimore wants to keep Brown Jr. at Right Tackle they would have to convince him to keep playing there. Unfortunately for the team he has a personal stake in playing Left Tackle and will do what he must to ensure the dream comes true.
