Odell Beckham Wants To Be Like The Patriots But Has No Idea How
Some people just don’t get it. Odell Beckham doesn’t appear to get it. Earlier this offseason, Beckham had a quote that suggested that he was really all in. Beckham said this:
“I plan on being there for the next five years and trying to bring as many championships there as possible,” Beckham told Cam Wolf of GQ, “turning [the Browns] into the new Patriots.”
There’s one big issue with this. Beckham has no idea what it means to be a Patriot. That’s growing more and more obvious. One of the first rules in the Patriots is to not give the media anything. Name the last time a member of the Patriots gave the media a quote or headline? You can’t. Instead, Beckham went scorched earth on Colin Cowherd.
Name the time that Bill Belichick got emotional and went to twitter to approach a media personality? The media has been declaring the Patriots dead for years. Tom Brady hasn’t once mentioned them. Instead he uses it as internal motivation. Beckham is clueless. By responding to this garbage, all he is doing is feeding the fire. Nothing Beckham is doing is Patriot like.
Skip OTA’s all you want. Who cares? Just don’t respond to this nonsense. What does he have to gain from responding? That’s like rule number one when it comes to the Patriots. Former Patriots great, Rodney Harrison had something similar to say.
“I think the first thing they have to do is if they want to be like the Patriots, they have to shut up,” Harrison said on “The Zach Gelb Show.” “You don’t need Odell Beckham talking, talking about he’s trying to be like the Patriots. Just shut up and play, OK?”
Can’t say it any better. Just ask yourself this question – “What would Tom Brady do?” It sure as hell wouldn’t be that. Odell Beckham wants to become the Patriots? He has a funny way of showing it. All he is doing is creating more headlines. The pressure is on in Cleveland and there is no excuse. Cleveland has way more talent than any other team in the AFC. They better win the division because I know what the Patriots never do… underachieve.
