The New York Giants have no plan. That much is obvious. They also have an idiot running the personnel department. That one is painfully obvious too. Details have started to emerge regarding the recent Odell Beckham trade. Giants GM, Gettleman Gettleman wanted two first round rounds for Odell Beckham. You will not believe the rest.
Peter King of NBC Sports had the following:
“Hearing the persistent rumors, Cleveland GM John Dorsey reached out Tuesday morning. No harm, no foul, he figured. That began a back-and-forth over the next 10 hours, approximately, that featured about 12 ideas/offers/counter-offers. The Giants wanted two first-round picks for Beckham, but I believe Gettleman knew that bounty might be tough to get because Beckham had proven himself a difficult player to handle. The Browns discussed some other players. But Gettleman, smarting from the prospect of losing safety Landon Collins in free agency to Washington (still hard to fathom why the Giants didn’t franchise their unquestioned defensive leader, Collins, at $11 million for 2019), had studied one Cleveland player he wanted: the 25th pick in the 2017 draft, versatile if slightly disappointing safety Jabrill Peppers. And at some point during the day, my understanding is Gettleman made it clear that the trade would not get done without Peppers being in it.”
Can you imagine running an NFL franchise and saying to yourself “I’m not trading Odell Beckham unless Jabrill Peppers is in the trade.” WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK IS WRONG WITH THIS GUY! Jabrill Peppers sucks. He has allowed a passer rating of 128.4 in coverage. He just sucks. Apparently, the Giants think he can replace Landon Collins. Why not just use the franchise tag on Collins if you want a box safety so bad? This guy is a moron.
Personally, if it were me. I would have demanded Nick Chubb and traded Saquon Barkley to the highest bidder. Peppers has zero value.
Now the Giants are going to roll with Eli Manning and Saquon Barkley again? The fact that Dave Gettleman still has a job is bonkers. I can’t believe how big of a joke the Giants have turned into. I’m sure John Dorsey was jumping for joy when he found out that he could move Peppers and it was valued as a first round pick.
