Nottingham Forest Hire Nuno As Cooper Replacement

Nuno Espírito Santo has been named the new head coach of Premier League side Nottingham Forest, according to a statement released by the club on Wednesday. The Portuguese manager signed a multi-year deal with his new club and will take charge of Forest this weekend.

“Nuno joins the club on a two-and-a-half-year contract and will take charge of his first match on Saturday when Forest face Bournemouth at The City Ground,” the club said. “The new head coach will take charge of his first training session with the squad this morning as they prepare for Saturday’s Premier League fixture.”

Nuno’s hiring comes just a day after Forest sacked manager Steve Cooper after an abysmal run of form in the Premier League. The club lost its last five games before finally pulling the plug on Cooper’s tenure, and Forest now sits in 17th place in the Premier League, only five points above the relegation zone.

Despite firing the man who earned the club promotion back in 2022, Forest has found themselves a capable new manager in Nuno. The former FC Porto player and manager has previous Premier League managerial experience, most notably his four-year tenure at Wolves.

During his time with Wolves, he helped the club earn promotion to the Premier League in his first year in charge after winning the Championship. He then guided the club to successive seventh-place finishes and an impressive Europa League quarterfinal appearance in the 2019-20 season.

After his successful stint with Wolves, he moved to Tottenham in 2021. Despite a promising start, his team faltered, and Nuno was replaced by Antonio Conte early into the season.

Nuno was most recently the manager of the Karim Benzemaled Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad. He won the club its first league title in 14 years in May, but was sacked in November after five league games without a victory.
