NHL announced three new events coming to the All-Star game. They include: Splash Shot, Pitch ‘n Puck, and Tendy Tandem according to theScore.
In the past few years, the NHL has tried to explore new events in the All-Star game. Last year, they specialized in two events for Las Vegas including The Fountain Face-Off and NHL 21 in ’22. Now, the NHL has decided to take out their sandals and golf clubs to signify the beauties that south Florida brings.
Splash Shot:
The NHL decided to bring the beach vibes to the ice with Splash Shot. “Splash Shot will take place on the beach in Fort Lauderdale. Four teams of two players will compete head-to-head shooting at targets, with the winner dunking their opponents into a water tank.” Via theScore.
Pitch ‘n Puck:
Pitch ‘n Puck uses all the skills of NHL All-Stars and combines them with the favorite offseason sport for hockey players: Golf. “Pitch ‘n Puck uses a combination of hockey and golf shots. Six players will play a par 4 on an island green. If there’s a tie, a longest-drive competition will determine the winner.” Via theScore.
Tendy Tandem:
Finally! All-Stars goaltenders aren’t left out to dry. With Tendy Tandem, the goalies will be more than just blocking pucks. “In Tendy Tandem, one goaltender from each division is designated as either a shooter or a netminder. The shooting goaltender will attempt to hit a target from a designated mark, with his results determining how many players get to shoot for his team. The netminder from the opposing division will then face one, two, or three players, depending on the points earned by the shooting goalie.” Via theScore.
Finally, the 2023 NHL All-Star weekend will be held and hosted on February 3rd and 4th by the Florida Panthers. It will take place in Sunrise, Florida at the FLA Live Arena. The Skill Competition will be hosted at 7-10 p.m. ET on the 3rd. On the 4th, the All-Star game tournament will be live 3-6 p.m. ET.
