The Rangers are playing the Leafs tonight on TNT. It’s TNT’s first broadcast since the Canucks hired Rick Tocchet. The early replacement for Tocchet might be Rangers legend, Henrik Lundqvist who appeared on TNT for the game. During pre-game skate, Rangers centerman Mika Zibanejad was interviewed by the TNT crew. Biz Nasty over at Barstool Sports may have revealed a hidden fact about Zibanejad.
The soundbite comes at the very end of the clip:
DJ Zibanejad? Yes, you heard that right. I did some digging and it turns out DJ ZBad drops some hot tracks. In 2019, NHL.com dropped a piece about Zibanejad djing at home in Sweden during a music festival.
Zibanejad also has a Spotify page with some music you can listen to. My favorite track on their that I listened to is the song called moves. I won’t lie, it slaps. The others are good but that one was by far my personal favorite. There is more content on his YouTube channel too. Let’s get Zibanejad more followers and subscribers.
Overall, impressive work for an NHL player that doesn’t have a ton of time to commit to music. The crazy part is I had no idea about this until just now. Why can’t Gary Bettman and the NHL market its players better? Paul Bissonnette gets it. Thank you for this hidden gem.
I may have been harsh on Zibanejad in the past but that’s only because ESPN’s fantasy hockey dummy Sean Allen ranked him 6th overall one year in fantasy. Zibanejad’s music makes the Rangers’ foward cooler. Way cooler than Sean Allen.
