Bryant, of course, is unfortunately no longer with us after the tragic plane crash. His daughter and seven other passengers lost their life that day. It’s a great way to honor one of the greatest players in Lakers’ history. Gone but still never forgotten by the hoop community.
This is now the fourth time Kobe will grace the cover of the game. Previously, Kobe repped the game during 2K10, 2K17, and 2K21. We still don’t have many details for the new iteration of the game. It stands to reason that Kobe will be heavily featured somehow, someway.
Kobe played in the NBA for 20 seasons, all of them for the Los Angeles Lakers. 18 of those years Kobe was an All-Star, which is just absurd. Other things to note for the resume include five NBA championships, was a 15-time member of an All-NBA Team, a 12-time member of an All-Defensive Team, the 2008 NBA Most Valuable Player (MVP), and a two-time NBA Finals MVP. Given the accolades and tragic accident, it’s not super surprising Kobe graces the cover again.
Feel free to comment down below. Do you think 2K made the right choice with their cover athlete? Should an active player have graced the cover for NBA 2K24?
