Nate Burleson Announces Expanded Role With CBS

Former NFL wide receiver and host of “Good Morning Football” Nate Burleson announced this morning that he is taking an expanded role at CBS. In addition to “Good Morning Football,” Burleson has been part of “The NFL Today,” CBS Sports’ premier pre-game, halftime, and post-game NFL show.

Burleson has been with CBS since 2017 and has been an integral part of their broadcasts. In addition to “The NFL Today,” Burleson will co-host “CBS This Morning,” the network’s flagship morning program alongside Gayle King and Tony Dokoupil.

The current president and co-head of CBS News and Stations, Neeraj Khemlani, spoke highly of Burleson and is excited about his expanded role.

“Nate is an extremely gifted broadcaster, interviewer and storyteller, whose deep curiosity and enthusiasm is the perfect fit for mornings on CBS. His wide range of experience and interests — from news to sports, from music to poetry, and from fashion to cryptocurrency — provides a unique perspective that will deepen the show’s connection with our viewers. He excites audiences in every arena, and we’re fortunate to have Nate joining Gayle and Tony at the table in September.”

Burleson has made a number of appearances on “CBS This Morning” as a guest host but will take a full-time role on the show starting in September. Additionally, part of his contract includes appearances on Nickelodeon and he was part of the broadcast team when the channel produced an NFL game between the Saints and the Bears last season.

Burleson made it clear in his announcement he will still be involved with productions at NFL Network but will not be making the daily appearances as he once did. Burleson spent 11 years in the NFL as a productive wideout playing for the Seahawks, Vikings, and Lions. He retired in 2014 and has since made a name for himself in the sports media world.
