Nasir Adderley Announces Retirement From NFL
Safety Nasir Adderley has decided to hang up the cleats and will retire from the NFL. The former Chargers 2nd round pick in 2019 announced his decision via Instagram.
“After a period of self reflection, I have decided it’s time for me to walk away from the game of football,” Adderley wrote. “Over the past couple of years I have denied this realization, but I’m finally going to put myself first for once. My health is above anything and everyone around me knows that.”
I think the thing we will remember the most about the Chargers’ 2019 NFL Draft class is the fact that it was terrible. In fact, I should have been harsher in my grade that I gave to the team. As I stated in my post back then, Adderley was a boom or bust player from a small school. It turns out maybe Deleware isn’t exactly a breeding ground for NFL talent unless your name is Joe Flacco!
In four seasons with Los Angeles, Adderley intercepted three passes, forced two fumbles, and recorded 232 tackles. However, 2022 was a rough season for the former Deleware product and was replaced as a starter back in Week 5.
Overall, scout Trey probably gets to check this one in the win column. The Senior Bowl notes that can be seen in the embed made my thoughts pretty obvious. If you can’t cover, you can’t survive in the league now. It was a shaky Senior Bowl and maybe we should have all known back then this was going to be a failed pick by the Chargers. Either way, let’s hope Adderley has a successful run post-playing.
