DJ Moore Thinks He Can Elevate Teammates With Bears
Good luck. That’s all I’m going to say. By now I think most of you know how I feel about the trade to move down in the 2023 NFL Draft and acquire DJ Moore. The former Panthers receiver now enters a Bears team that ranked dead last in passing yards in 2022 (2,598). Yeah… that number is the Bears total passing yards in 2022. Good luck!
“I think everybody’s level can reach a new level here now that I’m here,” Moore said, via Josh Schrock of NBCSportsChicago.com. “The whole presence of ー I was talking to [Darnell] Mooney and was talking about being together with Chase [Claypool] and me and him, how we’re just going to elevate the offense and just elevate Justin at the same time.
“Because I’m not just here to be like, ‘I’m here,’ just like a bright light. I’m here to make everyone around me better and we just want to try to get some wins.”
DJ Moore is not a number one receiver. The Bear fans can pretend that he is but it’s just not the case. No, the situation in Carolina wasn’t the greatest but the former Maryland product is coming off 63 receptions for 888 yards with seven touchdowns for Carolina. The previous three years combined, Moore had four touchdowns in each campaign. Nothing about Moore screams elite.
The Chicago wide receiver room now consists of Moore, Chase Claypool, and Darnell Mooney. In reality, it’s still not good enough to be taken seriously but don’t worry… Justin Fields will be blamed anyway. Moore likely won’t move the needle much but the good news is it’s hard for this Bears passing attack to get worse than it was a year ago.
