Myles Jack Pondered This Career Change Prior To Eagles Deal
Myles Jack was ready to be done with football. So much so that he even considered becoming a plumber or electrician. Jack recently signed a one-year deal with the Eagles so those plans are currently on hold.
The Athletic’s Zach Berman (don’t click the link it’s behind a paywall) posted a story about Jack’s possible career change.
“I like to work. I couldn’t sit at home,” Jack said, via Berman. “I’ve been blessed to make a lot of money. I could retire and sit at the house. … I want to be innovative. If a Zombie apocalypse came, I want to be able to build something.”
“Time waits for nobody,” Jack said.
Jack, 27, is still a young and talented player but has been hampered with injuries dating back to his UCLA days. However, Jack has a real opportunity here with the Eagles. TJ Edwards and Kyzir White both departed this offseason. Outside of Nakobe Dean, the Eagles really don’t have much at the linebacker spot. It’s something that we tried to note during the training camp series. Jack realistically should make this roster and has a path toward serious playing time.
Maybe this serves as some motivation for Jack. He’s part of a team that just went to the Super Bowl and they need him. Better yet, if he doesn’t perform this year, then he’s really going to take the route of plumber or electrician. Playing football for much more money sounds like a better career for as long as you can possibly do it.
