Lionel Messi is unreal. If you thought he was coming to the MLS to begin his retirement, then you were so wrong. He has come to play, and no one can stop him right now.
In Inter Miami’s Leagues Cup Round of 32 matchup with Orlando City, he continued his hot start to life in Miami.
Messi opened the scoring for Miami in the seventh minute. Robert Taylor, who is in the form of his life right now, found Messi with a deft chip over Orlando’s backline. Messi took the ball down and then did the rest.
It was a superb goal that shows the quality that Messi has. The timing of the run, the touch and the composure to finish show just how special the GOAT is.
He wasn’t done, either. With Inter Miami leading 2-1 in the 72nd minute, Messi played the ball out wide to Robert Taylor. He cut onto his right foot and found Josef Martínez in the box, who instead of trying to take the chance himself, unselfishly lofted the ball over Orlando’s defense to Messi who did the rest.
This proved to be the final goal of the game, with Inter Miami winning the game 3-1. They will travel to FC Dallas for a Round of 16 clash next week.
That is five goals in three games for Messi now. Let that sink in. In his first three games for Inter Miami, he has scored five goals. That is incredible.
No one has been able to stop him. Maybe FC Dallas will be able to shut him down, but I highly doubt it. Expect more of these posts until someone can figure out how to contain him.
