Oh boy, the New York Jets are back. We might see a new King of New York this season with how the Jets’ offseason is looking. New York has just signed speedy wide receiver Mecole Hardman to a one-year deal, according to Jeremy Fowler.
The Jets keep getting better and better every day this offseason. New York has added and subtracted so many players this offseason. They just got rid of Elijah Moore after the fellow wide receiver threw a tantrum over not getting the ball last season. Earlier in free agency, they added Allen Lazard in hopes of getting QB Aaron Rodgers.
Hardman is getting a one-year deal worth up to $6.5 million. Last year with the Chiefs, they expected him to do big things without Tyreek Hill. Last year, Hardman struggled with injuries. He only played eight games last season, but made the most for them. Even with a career-low in games played, Hardman had 25 catches for almost 300 yards and four touchdowns. Before his injury, Hardman became on pace to crack his career highs in all categories.
After a quality career at Georgia, Hardman entered the draft. The Kansas City Chiefs drafted Hardman in 2019 with the 56th overall pick in the second round. At Georgia, Hardman had 60 catches for around 1,000 yards receiving and 11 touchdowns. He also had an outstanding 16 yards per catch, showing off his speed.
Hardman will look to add a new element of supersonic speed to the Jets’ offense this upcoming season. With their shiny new offense, the Jets could be a team to watch out for in the AFC.
