Marquez Callaway, I’m Not Mad, I’m Just Disappointed In You

Yep, that’s right. I’m hitting you with the dad line. I am totally allowed to do that and it actually have some substance now that I am an actual father now. Scary thought, I know. Anyway, I am just disappointed in Marquez Callaway. Maybe it is my fault for getting excited about him in fantasy after Karl wrote a convincing article about him being a sleeper. I’m sure the media read Karl’s post and just ran with it after he had an impressive preseason TD. Everyone was so high on Callaway since then, and he just hasn’t…delivered. Maybe it’s the media’s fault for putting too much pressure on a guy that was never a WR1. In fact, most people haven’t heard of Marquez Callaway UNTIL this season. People went Looney Tunes on a guy that was never proven.

In his first 2 games, he hasn’t been great. That’s being generous, let me rephrase, he has sucked. He has only had 3 receptions for 22 yards. For reference, he had 21 receptions and 213 yards last year. He’s basically on track to have the same production last year. We got ahead of ourselves by making him the WR1 after Michael Thomas was put on IR. This guy was never proven and that was a big risk to take on him.

I’ll take some of the blame on the hype, I saw the hype and ran with it. I drafted him in my casual league for fantasy football and bid up on him in our site league. Why? The media and Karl made me do it. Okay, okay, I was a sheep and made a bad decision without a shred of evidence. I even had a rant on it on the Ballz Deep Fantasy show:

But, like most things in life, I refuse to make it my fault. Marquez Callaway should just listen and be better. I’m giving him the “I’m not mad, I’m disappointed” schtick so he CAN be better. If he becomes better, I will 100% take credit. If he doesn’t, it’s his fault for not rising to the occasion. See, a win-win situation. He doesn’t have much time, because when MT comes back, there’s virtually no chance for him to have decent Fantasy production then.
