Marquez Callaway Has Huge Sleeper Potential for Fantasy

Everyone loves looking for sleepers in fantasy football, and I have a deep sleeper for 2021. New Orleans Saints wide receiver Marquez Callaway has big time potential for this upcoming season. You want a late-round pick that could win you the league? Here’s your guy.

Promising Situation

First, let’s take a look at Callaway’s situation. We already know that Jameis Winston has a pretty good body of work as a fantasy quarterback because he takes so many shots downfield. That equates to big potential for his receivers. With Michael Thomas set to miss the beginning of the 2021 season with an injury, Tre’Quan Smith should get a ton more targets, as should Callaway, because the depth after Michael Thomas is basically nonexistent.

Good Track Record Thus Far

Marquez Callaway played eight games in the 2020 NFL season. While he was only targeted 27 times, he reeled in 21 of 22 catchable targets. That’s the type of reliability that should get him more looks this season, especially with Michael Thomas on the sideline.

Endorsement from Emmanuel Sanders

Emmanuel Sanders, now with the Buffalo Bills, absolutely loved what Marquez Callaway brought to the table. He said the following of the Tennessee product:

Marquez Callaway, I’m telling you guys, you better remember his name. I’ve got a feeling if the guy stays healthy, he’s going to be a special player in this league. He’s not even close to hitting his peak. He’s going to hit it just based off how he’s built. Good humble kid. Wants to work hard … They said it’s a good rookie receiver class. No one’s talking about him, but this guy is a player. When I got into games, I look across and know that he is going to make some plays. He’s a special player.

Sanders thought Callaway was legit. This could be his big breakout year.

Super Underrated on Draft Boards

Per Fantasy Pros, Callaway is WR #114 right now. Barring injury, I don’t see any way he finishes this low. There’s just too much going in his favor. There are a ton of targets up for grabs, he has a quarterback who pushes the ball downfield, he catches everything in sight, and he has the eighth-easiest schedule for a wide receiver right now. Long story short, give a look to Marquez Callaway. He could be a game-changing pick late in fantasy drafts.
