Time and time again, I just am obsessed with how much I love this Pacers team. I don’t necessarily root for anyone in the East, but if I did and would want someone to win the East and go to the finals, it would be the Pacers. A big part of that reason is how well Malcolm Brogdon fits in Indiana. He didn’t feel valued by the Bucks, but I bet he does now. While I still think a title might be a little bit far fetched for the Pacers, I fully believe they COULD surprise some teams and have that capability.
Malcolm Brogdon Stats
Malcolm Brogdon currently averages 17.1 PPG on 43.9% shooting, 7.3 APG, and 4.3 RPG. His 17.1 PPG ranks 3rd for this Pacers team. However, he leads the Pacers in assists with 7.3, 1.8 more than any other player on his team. He also is 4th on his team for rebounds and is only .3 RPG behind Jeremy Lamb for 3. He is arguably the most important player for the Pacers team without Victor Oladipo. The other player that is really important for this team is Domantas Sabonis. But Sabonis doesn’t facilitate the ball nearly as well as Brogdon does.
Malcolm Brogdon has been the do-it-all player for the Pacers while Victor Oladipo is out. TJ Warren leads the team in scoring, and Sabonis leads the team in rebounding, but Malcolm Brogdon leads the team in assists and isn’t far behind those two in their categories. He is fitting well with the Pacers. I can only see that fit getting better when Oladipo comes back for them. Sure his numbers might dip ever so slightly with his return, but they’re adding the Pacers’ best player back, who is gonna complain about that. This Pacers team is ready to put some scare in the Eastern Conference and I am all for it.
