The Los Angeles Lakers Need To Be Flexed Off Of National Broadcasts

Nobody Wants To Watch The Lakers On TV

We are in the final stretch of the NBA season and things are heating up across the league. Teams are fighting for home-court advantage in the playoffs. Players battling for individual awards to help build their legacy. You would think the NBA would be smart and put these types of matchups in front of the eyes of millions of viewers to take advantage of the storylines. Instead, with eight games left in the season, six nationally televised games belong to the lowly Los Angeles Lakers.

The Lakers are half a game ahead of the San Antonio Spurs for the 10th seed in the Western Conference and the final spot in the play-in. This is obviously not how the Lakers or Lakers fans saw this season going. But a storyline of an injured LeBron, shell of himself Russell Westbrook, and a group of players that don’t deserve more than 15 minutes a game competing for the final play-in spot is just not it.

Better Than What They Write In Hollywood

Tonight, the Milwaukee Bucks take on the Philadelphia 76ers. This would make for a much better game and should’ve been flexed in the Lakers’ place. Why you might ask? Not only will the game be better, but the storylines are there as well for the NBA world to talk about.

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Joel Embiid are two of three MVP frontrunners. Both players are also in discussion for Defensive Player of the Year. How Giannis or Embiid play in this head-to-head matchup, even though this one matchup should not be the deciding factor (it’s a season award) could decide who wins what award. The Bucks and 76ers and the same record and are one game out of first place behind the Miami Heat.

Unfortunately, I think it is too late to flex the Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks off tonight. The Mavs are a good team and Luka is a good player, but the problem is the Lakers. Yes, LeBron has been playing amazingly recently, but he hurt his ankle a few nights ago and we don’t know how much that will affect him.

The rest of the NBA world is done with the Lakers. Please, if there are better games on that day, flex the Lakers off national tv and put that game on. I don’t care. Everyone is tired of watching the Lakers lose and having the same talking points the next day on sports talk shows. Give us something else.
