The Lions traded for Denzel Mims in late July. Detroit will get their conditional round pick back less than a month later. The Lions are straight up releasing the former Baylor product well before cut day.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network was the first to report the news:
Let’s just make a pact. Dear, reader. If Mims gets picked up by another team, I’m not writing about it. Do we have a deal?
If you’re smart and you have been following along, you should be pretty caught up by now. I told you that Denzel Mims sucked years ago. The Jets didn’t listen and picked him in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. The smart people always knew Denzel Mims stunk. Here is your proof.
Don’t ask me why Joe Douglas still has a job. I can’t answer that question for you.
This release should say a lot. Mims didn’t even make it through the preseason. Keep in mind, Jameson Williams injured his hamstring and is suspended for gambling. Outside of the Sun God St. Brown, the rest of the wide receiver room is very average. You’re looking at Marvin Jones, Josh Reynolds, and Kalif Raymond. If Mims can’t put up a fight against that room… WTF are we talking about?
This puppy is done. Another win for Scout Trey. I think one day a team that wants to win will put their ego to the side and call me. Who knows when that will be but I’m pretty tired of sitting on the sidelines.
Don’t worry, the stock report posts will be back this Fall. Be thankful for them because I know one day teams won’t have a choice but to call. I keep winning these scouting battles over and over again when nobody else has the balls to just say that some guys like this suck. End of story.
