Leonard Fournette Either Sucks Or Doesn’t Care About Football

Leonard Fournette was supposed to be a generational running back prospect. He looked like he had the ability to play in the NFL as a true Freshman at LSU. As a true Freshman, Fournette rushed for over 1,000 yards. The next year, Fournette rushed for 1,953 yards and 22 touchdowns in 12 games. YEAH… That’s unbelievable. Fournette was basically Adrian Peterson. Ready to play in the NFL out of high school. It’s why Jacksonville drafted him with the 4th pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. Thus far, the Jags have made a terrible investment.

We now have more than a two year sample size on Fournette. Running backs are supposed to translate to the NFL right away. In 429 carries, Fournette is averaging 3.7 yards per rush. That’s coming from a former top 5 pick. What the hell? In 2018, Fournette averaged 3.3 yards per carry. Somehow it feels like he is getting worse. Even this past week, Fournette was given the ball on a 2 point conversation. You just knew the second he got the ball it was over. He wasn’t getting it.

That run has been the epitome of what Leonard Fournette is. He runs into the line of scrimmage and falls over. I can show you a thousand examples. For a guy so talented, it’s almost like he struggles to pick up a yard sometimes. That leaves only two possibilities. Either Leonard Fournette sucks or he just doesn’t care about football. There’s no other outcome.

This first clip is the Leonard Fournette I saw at LSU. He was a monster. It was like he peaked too soon. Like he was a NFL player going up against middle schoolers. I think the game got too easy for the guy. He lost his drive. I haven’t seen a run like that out of Fournette in Jacksonville ever.

Instead we get this guy. There’s no explosion. He runs up to the line of scrimmage and falls over. That’s Fournette on 70 percent of his carries. That’s not the guy from LSU. All I know is that we need answers.

This goes back to the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine. Fournette showed up out of shape not looking like he gave two fucks. He had no interest catching the ball either. He still put together a good workout because he’s so talented. Still, I knew it at the time. His combine had red flags all over it.

Either Leonard Fournette sucks or he just doesn’t care about football. I don’t care which one it is. All I know is Jacksonville passed on Deshaun Watson and Patrick Mahomes so they could build a running attack with Blake Bortles. That ground attack looks like dog shit. Fournette needs a wake up call or he’s going to be out of the league before he knows it.
