Lamar Jackson to the Miami Dolphins just makes sense

Yup, I said it. Lamar Jackson in the teal of the Miami Dolphins is something I want to see next year, and I think it can totally happen.

Even if Tua Tagovailoa is healthy next season, I think we’ve seen enough. Dolphins fans, he is not that guy. Even if you believe there’s a franchise quarterback in there somewhere, he’s nowhere near the level of the transcendent, MVP-caliber quarterback that Jackson is. It’s not a debate. Dolphins fans should be extremely excited if they could pull this off.

Jackson could be an unrestricted free agent next year and it’s pretty obvious he doesn’t want to play on the tag. The man wants his money.

The Dolphins are such an attractive landing spot for him with an offensive guru as head coach, and two of not just the fastest, but also the best wide receivers in the league. Not to mention, it’s also one of the nicest cities in the country. As long as the Dolphins are able to maneuver their cap space, which isn’t too difficult in the modern NFL, they should be able to pay the big bucks.

Now, I can’t lie. The fan in me also is dying to see this happen. Finally, one of the best quarterbacks in the league will get actual weapons to throw to. It’ll be his chance to shut all the doubters up. And trust me, there’s still plenty of them out there.

I don’t really feel the need to debate it. Jackson has never had much to work with besides his trust tight end, Mark Andrews. The man has still put-up incredible film with his ARM. I hate the running back narrative, it’s so tired. Beyond that, Greg Roman runs a prehistoric offense that has zero adaptability to the modern game and he put in no initiative to give his quarterback some help.

Roman doesn’t deserve this unicorn, but Mike McDaniel, Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle do. Just imagine three of the greatest athletes in the entire league on one offense with a brilliant young mind scheming up looks for them to make defenses look foolish.

The RPO arsenal McDaniel will have in use with this trio is scary with his two speedsters running across the field and then Lamar threatening to run right by everyone. Any defensive coordinator facing that trio would literally have no idea what to do. Do we pack the box to stuff Lamar’s running or play two high, so Waddle and Hill don’t burn us? I don’t know the answer and I’m not sure anyone would.

Look, the Miami Dolphins are a decent team with Tagovailoa leading them. As I’ve said before though, the goal isn’t to be decent or sneak into the playoffs; it’s to win a Super Bowl. The only way you’re sniffing the Super Bowl for the next ten years in a conference with Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen, is if you get your very own elite quarterback.

These chances don’t come often. You’re wasting this juggernaut of an offense on a very average quarterback. Miami Dolphins front office, go grab Lamar Jackson next year and shock the world.
