Three AEW stars that could appear at Impact’s Hard to Kill 2023

Three AEW stars that could appear at Impact’s Hard to Kill 2023

Impact Wrestling’s next pay-per-view is Hard to Kill 2023 on Jan. 15, and speculation is stirring about the possible returns in the works for the show.

Connections are being made about previous collaborations with AEW in the past as both companies have a good working relationship. We saw both Kenny Omega and Christian Cage each hold the Impact Wrestling World Championship in the last few years. Meanwhile, Frankie Kazarian has become a regular on both rosters.

Here are three AEW stars that could make an appearance on Impact Wrestling’s Hard to Kill 2023.

1. Christopher Daniels

The Fallen Angel, Christopher Daniels arguably had his best run in Impact Wrestling/TNA. The star had three separate runs in Impact spanning from 2002-21. He has held the coveted X-Division title three times and has held the tag championships eight times with various different partners. Daniels won PWI’s match of the year on two occasions and feud of the year with AJ Styles in 2005.

There are multiple ways we could see the 20-plus-year veteran utilized in a return. The first being that, despite his illustrious run in Impact Wrestling, the former TNA Legend has never held the top prize in the company, the world title. There may be a level of unfinished business left to attend to at Hard to Kill.

We could see him reunite with Kazarian and reform a fan-favorite heel tag team of Bad Influence and make a run at the tag titles. These two were highly entertaining and must-see TV whenever they were on Thursday Nights.

Lastly, the X-Division mastermind could return to feud with the likes of Trey Miguel and go back to what he was most known for in his tenure with Impact.

In any event, it makes too much sense for the AEW star to jump ship temporarily as Tony Khan has no present plans for him on the roster right now.

2. Broken, Matt Hardy

The Broken version of Matt Hardy was by far the most creative gimmick in Impact Wrestling’s history. AEW has relegated Hardy to a much lesser role in the company in the last few months and he may only have a couple more good years left.

The best-case scenario would be for Hardy to return in his broken form and cost Bully Ray his shot at gold, leading to a renewal of an old-time classic rivalry. Someone from Bully’s storied past shows up to ruin his comeback story.

The escapades of this character make for must-watch entertainment. People are quick to forget as a singles wrestler, Hardy had his best run in Impact Wrestling as a two-time World Champion, and two-time tag champion with his brother, Jeff. In 2016, for the same gimmick, he won gimmick of the year. This character was over the moon with fans everywhere.

The star has not appeared in Impact Wrestling since 2017 and from 2014-17 had the best run of his career. The time has come for the broken one to return to our TV sets.

3. Madison Rayne

The Queen, Madison Rayne still remains one of the best Knockouts to ever grace Impact Wrestling’s roster. AEW recently brought her in, but due to the crowded roster, she is quickly becoming a major afterthought.

Once a top-five rated women’s wrestler in the world in 2011 during his prestigious run in TNA’s Knockouts division. One of her best stops was her three separate runs from 2009-2022. She was in a faction with the Beautiful People, feuded with Gail Kim, and won five Knockouts championships. Rayne even hopped behind the desk serving as announcer alongside her husband, Josh Matthews.

The Knockouts division, as it stands, could use some extra star power and Rayne would provide this in spades. Whether it is a Beautiful People reunion of sorts or renewing an old-time rivalry with the likes of Mickie James. The Queen could step up to the throne once again in Impact.

All this collaboration is mutually beneficial as Impact may lend a hand to AEW for a future Forbidden Door PPV or even allow them to use their stars from time to time.
