Lamar Jackson is the starting QB for the Baltimore Ravens. He is also a second-year player. After an impressive two weeks of thrashing the Miami Dolphins and the Arizona Cardinals. There has been a ton of hype of how good Lamar Jackson actually is. Which poses the question? Is he the best dual-threat since Michael Vick?
I would like to compare his stats against Michael Vick’s. Just only using the first 9 games they’ve played (I used Vick’s first 9 games he had over 100 passing yards.) Vick had 1352 passing yards in 9 games, compared to Jackson’s 1797 passing yards. Michael Vick had 512 rushing yards compared to 821 rushing yards. Michael Vick had 8 total TD while Lamar Jackson had 18 total TDs. All signs point to yes right? Yeah, here’s why I don’t buy the hype.
First of all, Lamar Jackson’s TDs number is inflated, especially if you get 5 of those TDs from playing the terrible Miami Dolphins. Do you know who had more passing yards than Jackson and was also supposed to be the best dual-threat QB since Michael Vick? Robert Griffin III, better known as RG3. Wonder where he is now? Before you google it, he’s also in Baltimore riding the bench. I was far more impressed watching RG3 than Lamar Jackson. Even then, I am far less impressed watching them comparted to the Human Cheat Code that was Michel Vick. Put some respect on Mike Vick’s name. While we are at it, let’s pull back the hype on Lamar Jackson too, he’s only played 9 games and has only performed well against trash teams. He’s a better running back than he is QB. This only points to the fact that you actually have to watch the game to make an accurate analysis of players. Don’t worry, Lamar Jackson will end up as the same as RG3, it’s inevitable.
