Drake Maye Dynasty Fantasy Football Profile 2024
Drake Maye was picked #3 overall by the New England Patriots in the 2024 NFL Draft. In my eyes, he was the QB2 in this draft. However, he lands in New England, where he has a decent chance to be the starter there. As far as rookie drafts go, he has a chance to go high in rookie dynasty fantasy drafts, but let’s take a deeper look into his value.
For talents and weapons, there’s not a lot to work with here. This team is not good and I am not hopeful that they will win a lot of games. Hope is not all lost for Drake Maye though, there are some young weapons and at least SOME people he can throw the ball to. The Patriots won’t be good so they’ll have to throw the ball this year to stay in games. I really like his rookie WRs to make the most impact for him here. Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker as rookie WRs can be nasty to grow on. The veterans there in the receiving core leave much to be desired. Kendrick Bourne, JuJu Smith-Schuster. Jalen Reagor, KJ Osborn, and DeMario Douglas are all yucky options at WR. Hunter Henry, Austin Hooper, and Jaheim Bell are a solid TE room for Maye. Rhamondre Stevenson is ready to be the workhorse for the Patriots and he will be able to keep the pressure off Drake Maye.
Let’s put it this way, Drake Maye is a better dynasty fantasy option than he is re-draft option. He has something to build on. If I had to guess, he should start over Jacoby Brissett because if not, why did they draft him? In fantasy rookie drafts, I would take him in the top half of the first round, if he drops to you late in the first round, that might be a steal. QBs are always valuable in fantasy. If they’re not that valuable, you’re playing in the wrong league. Always take QBs if you can, but this might be one you take later in the first round.
