If Kyle Snyder Wins Second Gold Medal, He is the USA Wrestling G.O.A.T.

A Gold Medal from the Olympics in wrestling is the highest achievement you can earn. There are no professional leagues, so representing your country and competing once every four years on the biggest stage is pretty much the peak. If Kyle Snyder wins his second gold medal this year in Tokyo, he is the new G.O.A.T. of United States Wrestling.

After becoming the youngest American to ever win a Gold Medal in the Rio Games, he penciled himself in USA wrestling history books forever. The Maryland native went to Ohio State for two distinct reasons. He was able to train and compete in the NCAA while also practicing freestyle wrestling to prepare for the Olympics. The Buckeye staff had Tervel Dlagnev to drill with and coach him up every day.

At 19 years old, Snyder won his first Olympics but also won his second NCAA championship a few months before. He finished his career at Ohio State with three college titles and has been waiting to defend his spot on the podium. His path, however, is not easy. He is not the favorite, as the man to beat is Abdulrashid Sadulaev. He is listed at -225, while Snyder is +250.

They have wrestled twice in their careers, splitting the matches over the course of a few years. Synder won in 2017 for a World Championship, but Sadulaev won most recently in 2018 for his World Gold. If Kyle Snyder wins the trilogy, he is the new G.O.A.T. of USA Wrestling.
