After defeating Justin Gaethje via second-round submission at UFC 254, Khabib “The Eagle” Nurmagomedov has called it quits, ending one of the greatest fighting careers a perfect 29-0.

Khabib’s father and legendary MMA coach, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, passed away due to heart-related problems stemming from Covid-19. It was unclear whether Khabib would fight again, but The Eagle had one more fight in him.

With this seemingly being Khabib’s last fight, take a look back on what has been a legendary career.

Khabib, One Of The Greatest Ever

Khabib is one of the greatest fighters in UFC history, as his level of dominance was unparalleled. Since making his UFC debut in 2012, Khabib has won 13 consecutive fights, some of which came against Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, Rafael Dos Anjos, and Justin Geathje. The Eagle was never even knocked down. During the impressive streak, Khabib was never knocked down onto the mat. Not once.

The Best Grappler in UFC History

Khabib is the best grappler the world has ever known. He ended five of his UFC bouts via submissions. Three of his four title fights ended with chokes. Hailing from Russia, growing up wrestling freaking bears, Khabib excels in all facets of the game. No one even comes close to his work ethic and skill within the octagon.

I promised her this was gonna be my last fight, If I give my word, I have to follow this.

Khabib Nurmagomedov said post fight about a conversation with his mother

The relationship Khabib had with his father is something almost anyone can relate to. For him to get back in the octagon for one last fight, the first without his father training him or being in his corner, must’ve been incredibly hard. If this truly is his last fight, it’s been one hell of a career.

While many UFC fans hoped to see a Khabib rematch versus McGregor, they will understand in this circumstance; If you make a promise to Mom, you must keep it. The world of MMA will miss The Eagle. He has made his father proud. We at Vendetta wish Khabib Nurmagomedov a happy and healthy retirement.
