Let’s Stop Pretending Kanye West Is Still A Musical Genius. He’s Not Anymore
I write this post as a realist and an old Kanye fan. However, the nonsense and blasphemy must stop. Kanye West is not the same musical genius we once knew and love. It’s time to stop acting like he is. I’m tired of the fanboys of Kanye West overhyping his work more than what it is. It’s okay for Ye to fall off, every artist does after a while. There’s no shame in that. There is shame trying to convince people that his music is still good, it’s just not. I pissed some people off from the site with my tweet below, it was actually funny.
I will stand by that take. Like clockwork, people had their swords pointed at me just like the picture indicates. Kanye hasn’t been good since MBDTF (My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy). Now THAT album is a work of fucking art, it is essentially a masterpiece of Rap music. The name is very fitting, it’s beautiful, dark, and slightly twisted but such a stupendous album. Too bad, that is the last good COMPLETE album we got from Ye. Some disagreed with that being the last time he was good, using TLOP (The Life of Pablo), Yeezus, or even KSG (Kids See Ghosts). Yuck.
TLOP wasn’t bad per se, but I wouldn’t say it was good. It does have some bops on there, but nothing I would lay my life down for. Father Stretch My Hands Part 1 and 2 were good songs, Waves, Famous, and Ultralight Beam were great. That’s about, what 30% of the album? The rest left much to be desired, get real.
Yeezus? Come on, the only song that was somewhat listenable was Blood On The Leaves. KSG?! DON’T MAKE ME LAUGH. That shit was horrible. Maybe I am not hip anymore, I do listen to the new wave of artists in Rap like Lil Uzi Vert, Polo G, Pop Smoke, SOB x RBE, Denzel Curry, etc. KSG was absolutely awful, in one song I sweatergod that they were just making noises like cavemen and trying to pass it as music. Good God, I had to take a shower after trying to listen to it because it made me feel like I cheated on rap with whatever bullshit that was.
Delusional Kanye West fans make me laugh man. I saw a joke on Twitter one time that was like “Kanye West one day won’t even release any music, he will tell his fans to imagine the music and they’ll be dumb enough to say ‘yeah I think I can hear it.'”
I loved Kanye just like everyone else, but he isn’t the same. He’s not a musical genius anymore. You think his work is as good as The College Dropout, Late Registration, Graduation, 808s & Heartbreak, and My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy? Please. MBDTF was the peak of Kanye’s career, and before his peak, his music was so much better than whatever the fuck he is putting out now. Take this as a reality check and grow up, his music isn’t good anymore.
