Things can’t get much better for Ohio State. Urban Meyer swept the allegations under the rug like they never happened. The Buckeyes just won the Rose Bowl over Washington. Ohio State will probably have the first overall in the 2019 NFL Draft. Not only that, they have TWO players that could top the draft board with Dwayne Haskins and Nick Bosa.
The rich keeps getting richer and former heralded recruit, Justin Field, will transfer to Ohio State from Georgia:
Multiple sources confirmed the plans to Lettermen Row on Friday morning, indicating Fields is expected on campus with the Buckeyes later in the afternoon and set to move in this weekend ahead of the resumption of classes, clearing the way for him to participate in the offseason program and spring practice.
Fields was going to sit another year behind Jake Fromm so it’s not hard to see why he wanted to leave. Then again, I’m not so sure why Fields went there in the first place. Georgia was going to bench Fromm after a National Title appearance? No chance. Now Fields will go to Ohio State but Haskins hasn’t officially declared yet.
I would guess that Haskins is going pro now that Fields is coming. Why would Fields commit to Ohio State if he didn’t have an indication that Haskins was leaving. What’s more interesting is that even if Haskins leave, are we sure Fields will start? Tate Martell has something to say about it.
Martell was highly recruited in his own right and knows the system. I’m all for a quarterback battle. It will be something to watch for spring ball. If I were Fields, I would have went somewhere in the SEC to shove it to Georgia. That’s what a real man with integrity would do? Anyone can beat up on the Big 10.
