The preseason of the 2019 NFL season has not been kind to the Philadelphia Eagles back up quarterback situation. In their first game at Lincoln Financial Field against the Tennessee Titans, apparent second string QB Nate Sudfeld went down with a broken wrist and is expected to missy a big chunk of the season. In week 2 of the preseason, the Birds traveled South to Jacksonville to take on Philly legend, and the last man to throw a touchdown pass in the Super Bowl, Nick “Big Dick” Foles. It was supposed to be a good chance to give now second string QB Cody Kessler some quality time under center. Well that all changed when Kessler got absolutely rocked in the first quarter and was immediately sent into concussion protocol. Now you may be asking saying to yourself, “Well if Wentz goes down there goes the season”. Well, you’d be wrong because the Eagles just made the biggest insurance move of the Summer.

Yesterday the Super Bowl LII Champs and the highest ranked team in Madden 20 went out and signed veteran QB Josh McCown (reported by Adam Schefter). I am all about the move guys. McCown is a journeyman backup who recently retired at the end of last season, but has had some quality games under his belt and brings another veteran presence into that QB room. For his career Journeyman Josh has over 17,000 passing yards, 98 TDs, a career QBR of 79.8, and most impressively this will be his 9th NFL team. If after this season McCown does permanently hangs up his cleats he will have a promising career as a travel agent. To get serious for a second though guys, if McCown goes down I’m going to club a baby seal. Go Birds! Don Chach out.
